"David Herron thinks like iron."
So said the President of one of America's largest foundries. At the time, this foundry was a major grey iron foundry moving into ductile iron. For three years, I had the privilege of solving shrinkage and slag problems and teaching his engineers how to gate and riser ductile iron in vertical green sand molding. Today, they are the leading ductile iron foundry in the world (in my opinion). I can help your foundry too. No one has more experience solving cost and quality problems in ductile iron. I also handle all other metals. Few metallurgists have experience in tooling and few tooling engineers are degreed metallurgists. This is my niche. After thirty years of experience, I guarantee my services.
"Absolute command of the technology . . . ,
is what impressed me, about you, when we first met." So said my most recent client, the plant manager of a mid-sized foundry. That's flattering, but you know, we all have a gift, a niche, something that comes easy to us. Gating and Risering is like that for me. It's my art; but I've coupled it with thermodynamics and fluid flow dynamics via my metallurgical training to give my clients accurate diagnosis of scrap and cost problems. When a problem is properly diagnosed, we can solve it together with your people, as a team.
"Because you know stuff."
I had to laugh. I had asked the President of the small, family owned foundry, why he had hired me. His answer was simple, "Because you know stuff." We all know stuff. But sometimes a new set of eyes, experienced eyes, can see things that were right before our eyes. Let me show YOU, what stuff I know. I can't solve every problem you might have . . . but I always find ways to save you money in scrap and productivity, across the board.
"This patent is what the industry has been looking for, . . ."
and they don't even know it." So said a respected foundry mechanical consultant. In fairness, our industry has been under assault and under recession. I invented this continuous, pressurized casting machine to reduce cost, improve quality, reduce energy usage, and improve environmental emissions. We are under pressure to do so, but we can benefit from the struggle. I'm looking for innovative foundrymen and venture capitalists to build and/or license the Herron Casting Machine, covered by U.S. and international patents.
