U.S. & international project justification, training & consulting for customers of Danish foundry equipment manufacturer, providing expert assistance in sand formulation & control, metallurgy, tooling design, gating & risering of grey, ductile, brass and aluminum.

 

1995-1994        Golden Casting Corporation, Columbus, Indiana

Title:   Director, Quality Assurance & Technical Services

Supervised Q.A. Manager, Plant Metallurgist, Field Service Engineers, Process Engineers, & 55 man Q.A. department handling complex cored grey iron, primarily blocks & heads, green sand & large no-bake molding. Extensive technical and business liaison with major, demanding OEMs (Cummins, Mack, Detroit Diesel, General Electric, Waukesha, etc.) Responsible for PPAP, SPC, dimensional, chemical, and mechanical Cpk studies and presentations to customers. Support of customer R&D.

Supervised 5 engineers and 8 patternmakers over casting design, tooling & process engineering of automotive ductile iron.

Computerized gating & risering, tooling design, metallurgical, cost and quality consulting. Introduced Herron Hybrid Gating to major clients from Alabama to Wisconsin.

 

1981-1976        LYNCHBURG FOUNDRY COMPANY, Lynchburg, Virginia

Title:  Senior Tooling Engineer

Supervised three draftsmen supplying drawings to sixty-man patternshop. Assisted estimating department. Responsible for all pre-production engineering and Kaizen at five foundries, including gating & risering. Key member of finishing and scrap reduction task force teams.
